Koen Pepping

Koen Pepping (05-1994) was 10 years old when
he started developing his interests for music.
While the other kids of his age wher listening to
al music that was in the top 40, he was playing
air guitar to the heavy sounds of rockbands
like The Red hot chili peppers, The Rasmus
and Nirvana.
When he was 12 years old, his mom got a
new job and for his parents it was now possible
to pay for his guitar lessons. A few years later he
quitted his guitar lessons and took piano lessons.
By that time he started recording some guitar tracks,
inspired by a good friend of his, named Jeroen. He was
recording in apples garage band software.
By the time he discovered Propellerheads Reason 5 due to another friend/classmate that time, he started working with software synths/drumcomputers. The limitations of Reasons external instrument recording (that time) forced him to start using Ableton Live as DAW. He picked up working in Ableton Live really fast and from that point he knew he wanted to study Music Production. Because he had to audition for a place as a music student in about a half year and he just started with DAW's and Synthesis, he took lessons in computer music from Erwin Tuijl.
When Koen was 17 (almost 18) years old he got accepted as a music student at the University of the Arts (HKU). Now he is in the second year of his study. He's now known with Logic, Ableton Live, Reason and Avid Protools. Besides composition and production he is also learning to program in languages as Max MSP, Pure Data (PD), Bash scripting and C++. He also started building a Modular synthesizer, which he is doing with two friends named Erwin Tuijl and Tom Raaff. They are making everything theirselves, they are even etching and drilling the PCB's (designs from Yusynth.com).
